June 1–Buena Vista.
5th Annual ALS Community Awareness Walk-a-Thon at Glen Maury Park. You don’t have to walk four times around the Pavilion to have fun, but you do to receive a t-shirt or ball cap which is included with a $15 fee. June 1-30–Roanoke.
The Science Museum of Western Virginia will be showing in the MegaDome the movie “Lewis and Clark”, movie-goers will go back 200 years to experience the adventure, danger and beauty of the unmapped West. 540-342-5710.

June 1-30–Waynesboro.
Artisans Center of Virginia presents a National Competition– “Transforming the Elements” on the 1st-25th and “Sculptual Ceramics” by Novie Trump on the 1st-30th. 540-946-3294.

June 1-30–Harrisonburg.
The Virginia Quilt Museum will feature “Quilts and Quaker Heritage”, never before seen quilts, samplers, clothing, and related items on the 1st-30th; A continuous silent auction of little quilts. The quilts are donated by quilters in support of the museum and all bids begin at $25.00. 540-433-3818.

June 5-26–Staunton.
“Shakin’ at the Station” concerts will be held Thursday nights in the Wharf parking lot. All proceeds go to support local charities. 540-332-3867.

June 5-27–Staunton.
Frontier Culture Museum events: 8th Annual Garden Days, also plants and seeds for sale, on the 5th-8th; “First Fridays”, on all farms, free admission on the 6th; Demonstrations of log hewing, fence building, splitting logs, food ways, and agriculture on the 12th-14th; Summer education program for ages 5-8 on the 16th-20th and 23rd-27th. 540-332-7850.

Confederate Memorial Day Celebration at Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters, 451 North Braddock Street. Civil War period dressed staff will be giving free tours of the museum. A speaker and special services will be performed in Mt. Hebron Cemetery at 7 a.m. 540-622-6550.

June 6–Harrisonburg.

June 6-8–Natural Bridge.
Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park will host the 7th Annual VW Bus Rally and “Shipwrecked at the Park” weekend. Come dressed in your best pirate costume, and dance the night away at the “Shipwreck Glow Stick Party”. Proceeds from the VW Bus Rally go to the Ronald McDonald House. “Fridays Alive” concerts at the Liberty Hall Ruins Park, East Denny Circle, every Friday. Bring lawn chairs or blanket and spend an evening with the family listening to live music from 6-9 p.m. Concessions on site. “Relay for Life” event is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Everyone is welcome from 6 p.m.-6 a.m. at the Warren County Middle School, 500 West 15th Street. National Hall of Fame Jousting Tournament at Natural Chimneys Regional Park. This sport of ring jousting requires horseback riders to spear, on a lance, a series of small metal rings suspended from a wire, as they gallop steadily past the spectators. Annual Shenandoah Valley Pow Wow at the Silver Phoenix Indian Trading Post. Over 28 native craft vendors. Traditional food, dancing, singing and more. Admission fee. 540-477-9616.

June 26–Shenandoah Caverns.
Senior Day at the Caverns. This special day includes musical entertainment at the Yellow Barn. Reservations requested. The fee of $12.00 per person includes the 2 p.m concert, admission to the American Celebration on Parade and the Yellow Barn, or $20.00 per person with one-entree buffet. June 27-28–Roanoke.
